Hi,

I just got a laptop from office for official use so that I can carry all the data when I am traveling. ATM all the data is on my office desktop PC. I am looking for a software that will help me to download all the data from the desktop to my laptop and also synchronize on a daily basis.

Please also advise what kind of connecting hardware I would require. Will I able to syncronize using a USB connection?

Awaiting replies.

Sunil

There is an inbuilt software in windows 7 which easily transfers terabytes of data from PC to PC. I've used it but both the pcs had windows 7 on it. You also need a CAT 5 cable that will be connected to the ethernet ports of both pcs. there is a way to transfer data from an XP pc to windows & pc, XP to XP also but u gotta find the tutorial for it online or something!

Dropbox is the best synchronizing software I have ever seen till date. You can syncs your files online and across your computers.

Just put your files into your Dropbox on one computer, and they'll be instantly available on any of your other computers in which Dropbox is installed(Windows, Mac, and Linux too!) Because a copy of your files are stored on Dropbox's secure servers, you can also access them from any computer or mobile device using the Dropbox website. Great service.

As i said :D

^^ I've used SyncToy with impeccable results. But I used to sync through a USB/Pen drive, so dunno how well it works between two computers connected directly.

I don't think you will be allowed to use Dropbox. Any files related to company should only be stored on company servers. Please confirm before you move office data onto dropbox. It is against company policy in most company's.

People even get fired over this

I think what you need is SyncToy 2.1 is a free application that synchronizes files and folders between locations. Typical uses include sharing files, such as photos, with other computers and creating backup copies of files and folders.

Download details: SyncToy 2.1
Thanks Tommy, I downloaded Synctoy and it is working perfectly. The app i was looking for.

Is there any damn software that allows users to transfer huge chunk of data FROM A DESKTOP/LAPTOP WITH WINDOWS 7 TO A DESKTOP/LAPTOP WITH XP. I have a LAN Cat-5 cable.
