Hi,

I need some technical info regarding lenses.

how can we determine the distance (in feets/metere/km) that a lens eg - 75 - 300 mm lens - can zoom into.

Or how much is 12x zoom in physical distance.

I hope u guys understand my question.

12X zoom.. 6X zoom is all relative. On a 35mm film camera... a 50mm lens is considered a normal focal length. If a lens has a smaller focal length that 50mm, then it is considered Wide angle, and longer focal length is considered Telephoto.

So if a zoom lens has a focal length range of 25mm-100mm... then it is a 4X zoom (100/25). Now if another zoom lens has a range of 50mm-200mm.... then again it is a 4X zoom... but this will obviously allow you to zoom in a lot closer....

i dont have any idea of a dealer there. what should i watch out for before buying ?

do other retails shops sell these cameras without bill or in grey price.

You get both, grey and with bill... at the same shop :P. You can also try getting them from sifymall, they have great prices and it comes with dealer warranty... which is better than grey... coz that has no warranty at all.

yes even i saw the prices on sifymall but have no experience of doing online purchases. Anyone who has bought from sifymall please post experiences.

i got my cam from there ..... it took 1 week but that was because of non availability of that particular model ...... their support is also good .....

I helped my friend to buy a camera from Sifymall. Order placed online on March 23rd, camera delivered to his house in Mumbai on March 25th. Friday to Monday. Just visit the product page and the process is pretty simple and straightforward. You pay by credit card.
