Hi guys i had just bought a dfi lanparty nf4 ulta-d board abt a week ago.
Now there are 4 memory slots on the board. Two alternate orange and two alternate yellow slots.
i have 2 transcend 512mb ddr400 sticks.
Now these sticks work in orange slots flawlessly whether in single or dual mode.
Now as for the yellow slots, when i kept one stick in 1st yellow slot,I got abt 6-7 beeps at startup and blank screen.
In the 2nd yellow slot, when i inserted a single stick, sometime it boots sometime it just hangs at the startup dfi logo.
Also if it boots in this case,i get a message.

Warning! System is running in safe mode.
Please Re-setting the cpu frequency in cmos setup/
Press F1 to continue.
But i have not changed anything in bios Abt the frequency.
Oh and I have the latest bios .

First Check which slot is recommended for single Ram stick in the manual.

On the dfi-ultra board the orange and yellow slots have different behaviour / performance levels. For some (depending upon the bios, type of rams, Vdimm supply, ram settings etc..) yellow gives better results and for some orange slots.

I suggest you reset the cmos by either changing the jumper or removing the battery and then try the yellow slots again. (leave the memory settings to "BY SPD")

if that does not work then try to increase the Vdimm by 1 or 2 steps.
post back ur observations ...

Well Yellow RAM Slots are meant for Rams requiring high VDimm.
I have had the best results with those slots.
I also faced the same problem,BIOS update solved the problem.

Yes but even while in orange slots running in dual channel mode.i get:-Warning! System is running in safe mode.
Please Re-setting the cpu frequency in cmos setup/
Press F1 to continue.
When i press F1,windows boots normally afterwards and no probs after that.
Also sometimes this message does not come and even if it does, pressing F1 resumes the normal routine.
But why this message in the first place?

Ok guys i instaleld starice cooler today on my dfi.
I have connected a manually controlled pwm connector to it.
Now i have kept the speed to the max.
When my pc starts,i have starice cooler running at max speed and the leds on it glow bright but as windows boots, the fan speeds comes to one third and the leds become very dim?
How to disable the on board fan control?
and why do the leds become dim as windows starts?
