Did Vista SP1 make things better for you?

Last time I used Vista was when they had released it in 2007. Hated it then and switched to XP immediately. But after the SP1 was released, decided to give it a try and boy was I surprised. Fallen in love with it now...

What do you guys think?

PS: Please don't start another flaming thread :bleh: :bleh:

I was happy with vista even before SP1, but i had to go back to XP since i wanted to play some games which wasn't possible in Vista (this was a year or so back :P). Recently tried Vista w/ SP1 for 10 days it was pretty good too, but again had to format it coz i was really in need of space :ashamed:, will install it next week mostly.

Absolutely no clue abt the SP1 part Sei, but as such Vista Ultimate 64 + SP1 seems to do a good job on my system with 4 gigs of RAM. :)

No crashes/poofs with games (or I haven't come across any so far out of FC2, Crysis:WH).

^ With my modest 7900 GS and a 22 incher I can't think of Crysis right now:ashamed:

I'm in a crisis myself :P

But I can vouch for TF2 and steam in general. It runs great with no problems whatsover and even other apps which used to crash regularly work fine

I've been on Vista since RC2 and finally the OS seems to have stabilized after SP1. There are still kinks to be ironed out but its stable enough for daily use.

SP1 made Vista all good, as I've experienced on my tablet PC which I bought before SP1 and clearly saw the improvements with every update, but what gets my goat is that it comes on a DVD and takes ages to install and like about 15 GB disk space IIRC for a fresh install with no other apps (other than some of those like IE)... and it consumes so much RAM/video resources. Whereas comparing it to Linux (say Ubuntu), you get a single Live CD (not DVD) with OS and a bunch of standard apps (OpenOffice, media, graphics etc) which is mostly all you need to run a desktop (except for gaming though) and it installs in about 15 minutes and takes just a couple of GB of disk space, and it has such awesome driver support, better than what MS boasts for Vista and its Free... blah blah blah... you get the idea. :D

(not meant to be a flame or anything, i currently run Vista most of the time at home and Ubuntu most of the time in the office)

Was on RC2 before running back to my XP SP2. Jumped on Vista after SP1 was released so can't really say if there's any diff. But, yes, Vista SP1 is very stable and running great.

have vista ultimate on my 2 pcs and laptop, sp1 improved things a lot and now it is much faster than my xp i have .

Im lovin it....... ta da ta ta taaaa

Vista is definitely much more stable after SP1 . If you have more than a gig of ram then it runs much better than xp .

Vista with sp1 is very very stable..You dont need to think twice, only make the system partition more than 40gb..

Try windows 7, same stability and extremely fast..I'm loving it..Plus loads of shortcuts and very refined aero experience...

Either way, both are very stable..You dont need to think twice..

Vista SP1 was good and stable enough without any problems for me that I decided to kick out the *ahem* XP from my PC.. ;)

SP1 did wonders.. systems much more stable.. no hangups.. n also the boot up time has reduced.. much faster now.. in luuvvv with it.. better thN xp
