Dad has been mulling over buying a new sedan for quite a while now.
He is looking for a spacious car which would be diesel.
Now with the newly launched sx4 diesel, along with the vento and fiat linea which would be more value for money in terms of its robustness and longer life with better mileage.
An outside chance for the xylo too.
So guys what do you suggest?

Swift desire looks awkward from the boot.
The apprehension is the 1.3L engine enough for the sx4? Will the power be compromised because the mileage figures suggested look awesome.
The sx4 vdi costs about 7.85L in mumbai. So for forty thousand more i get a much better performing car dont you think?

Most VFM diesel sedan : Tata Manza (most spacious, same engine as linea, sx4, swift but - typical TATA rattles)

Most gorgeous sedan : Fiat linea ( feature rich, superb handling and ride, - FIAT A S S)

Big bull looks : SX4 ( + Maruti A S S)

desperate decision : swift desire (looks bad, useless boot, cramped rear seat, + Maruti A S S)

I too like the looks of fiat linea. But tata A S $ is what worries me
so it seems a tie with the sx4 and linea.
Will need to research on it now....

You have two options here either go for Sx4 diesel or look at Logan or Ford Ikon diesel.
logan's box type looks put me off.
I also hear that current line of fiesta will become the ford ikon and a newer fiesta is on the cards. So do not want to opt for older tech.

Fiat's diesel engine (1.3 Multijet), used in Maruti, Tata and Fiat cars, is more advanced than Fords' engine.

Logan's engine (also used in Nissan micra) is even behind Ford.

mentioned already the current fiesta will be the new ford ikon and a newer fiesta is round the corner.

Why don't you take a Test drive of both cars and see what works for you?

Fiesta rules, running smooth for last 4 years 70k kms done and still feel like good as new while driving anywhere. solid performance and engineering.

tata manza without a shadow of doubt

linea and sx 4 are better than manza tho

and vento may be even better perhaps

Quality and finesse: Vento Diesel

Affordable A S S and Rugged exterior: SX4 Diesel

Decision making:

Clean roads, nightlife, slick highways, Good at maintaning cars, Rattle-free interior -> Vento

Rugged roads, traffic, hilly getaways, ground clearance, Hassle free servicing at any corner of India, May rattle after a long while -> SX4

i just wish the world shud've ended before i read the above reply.. :chair:
<takes a deep breath>

anyways.. vento would be the best bet, but the downside will be long waiting periods ( cud be even 6 months).. the sx4 diesel looks good too, but it is too bulky as far as looks go (personal opinion :P).. never liked tata's quality so won't consider manza even if it might be a good car.. and the last one is fiat linea multijet.. gem of a car.. but ASS might be of worry.. do a TD of all the cars and decide the best which suits u.. no one can find a better option for u other than u urself..
if i were in ur position, my money wud be on vento.. :)

^^ He is looking for a Diesel Sedan, so TJet won't match his criteria. Though its a gem but costs somewhere around 10L in Mumbai.

my bad.. got confused between a tjet n multijet.. too much work these days affecting my senses.. :P
