ok i know the diif is that the former is analog..and dvi is digital.but is there any serious difference in quality....also please advise me for a 17" lcd upto 12k....response time<10ms.....and should be solid....that is run without major faults....

Samsung 740N is good with 8ms response time...
DVI brings a little stability for LCDs....but not much diff....

Depends on LCD. Some LCDs which support both DVI and D Sub work better with one and suck with other input.

Benq71E + is good example of that. The DVI improves the display quality drastically on this display.

^^Simple fact is if the LCD has DVI, the manufacturers don't optimize the VGA out and hence one gets poor quality on the VGA.

Would it matter if the LCD does not have DVI and has mini D-sub instead ? Does it mean that its not as good as the ones have DVI ?

I am talking about ViewSonic Q19wb
