Well, I want to know if there is some way to disable it. I absolutely HATE this system(sorry). This is I guess the first thing on TE that I absolutely loathe.

Sorry admins.

The thing is, when I click on a review(the Razr V3i for example --- http://www.techenclave.com/forums/motorola-razr-v3i-review-70183.html ), I want to be able to read the whole review one ONE page without having to navigate to more pages.

Same for technology news posted by Dip.....

Could you guys think of some option of disabling this in the user CP ??

Thank You

Regards

Nikhil

PS: Sorry if I hurt the mods.... I love TE but this is THE most annoying "feature" on my fav website.

Nikhil,

That TOC(Table of contents) feature is present to ease your navigation not make it difficult for you - i really dont understand what's so difficult in navigating with TOC which is present on right hand side of your page - just click & go to the page you require.

Now about news section - some of my aricles just keep getting bigger as i keep appending them - case in point http://www.techenclave.com/forums/launch-quad-sli-7900-gx2-68419.html

Now if i have it without TOC - people would either run away seeing the size of it or would find mighty difficult to follow what i am trying to convey. The TOC thingy has been one good thing we have implemented lately ;)

Even in guides section - it only eases navigation, article looks easier on eyes & enhances the overall appeal.

About disabling it - i dont think you can.

PS : Remember you can either navigate page by page by following the links at bottom.

OR Better Still

You can navigate using TOC which is present on Right-Hand side of the article just below the user's avatar & above the ad.

________

Everybody make sure your Content Tab is Enabled on the right hand side of article just below users avatar - Just click on Contents to enable TOC. (Valid for News/Articles section)

@dipdude :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

I know how to navigate!!! am not such a newbie :lol:

I find it a nuisance to go from page to page. I know that the GX2 thread was loooooooooooooong. But I would prefer to scroll down than go from page to page.

^ Seeing that you are not a newbie ;) , you would also understand that some fellows are just interested in going to last updated news item in the thread - if we dont have a TOC - people are forced to scroll all the way down to the updated entry and that is tedious.

With TOC you just have to click on the updated story to go right to the point - so hope you understand why TOC is a must.

__________

PS : Nikhil my last post was a general guideline to all TE members & not intended to offend your navigation skills in any manner.

@Nikhil:

I understand that u prefer to scroll down the long pages but many of our members find it boring and lose interest in the article after they see the length of article.

A table of contents make it easier for both newbies and experts to read the portion of the article they like to read more. For example, many ppl read only the intro and conclusion to the article while some read the benchmark part. In a non-paginated article, its difficult to search for the content you're looking for but a paginated and lebeled article makes it much easier IMHO.

Still i respect your views on the same and we'll see if we can provide an option to turn this feature ON or OFF according to user convenience. You'll need to give it some time though. :)
