guys i am looking for digicam. well i had sony w5. i lost it so now i want new one.
requirements -

Image stabilizer
Night photograpy - most important for me as w5 was very weak in this:(
li-ion battery -.

i am in tokyo so suggest me any brand. but please i dont want to spend more than 15-20k INR. even if it is 5MP is ok as MP isnot important for me but the it should be rich in features...

Why don't you get a DSLR - the canon 350D should be available at about 20K with the kit lens. It would be the best thing for night photography.

If you want a compact - they won't be as good as a DSLR for night photography owing to the large amount of noise a smaller sensor generates.

thx mate. i used this in singapore and it is bit complicate to use.
i want bit simple still good for night photography. i dont want the best one but still better than my old sony W5. so even my parents can use it.

any suggesion what should i check in camera for night photograpy ...

f you're looking for a compact camera that's a great low light shooter, then you should definitely have Fuji FinePix F40fd on your list.F40fd is a camera that takes high quality photos, even at high ISO settings. & perhaps best night shooting digicam out there.

dude go for infrared camera or infrared cam...thts the only solution you have for night vision shoots and photography.

Hehehe. Do you have any idea of what he requires? :D I don't think the OP was asking for a spy-cam or a gadget to shoot wildlife in the amazon rainforests on a night safari. :D

Anyway. On topic>>

As said before, go for the Fuji Finepix F30> F31fd> F40fd> F50fd. (in that order of preference).

All of these will be great for low-light/available-light photography as you mentioned doing well all the way upto ISO 800 after which noise will start creeping in significantly. ISO 400 is a breeze in all these digicams.

The F30 takes the prize among all these though it is the oldest model of the lot but still maintains the standard to beat in terms of low-light photography and noise-free snaps. :)

Its the F30/F31fd which are my recommendations but the entire list above should do you good.

Happy shooting!

The Canon EOS 350D with the new 18-55 IS lens is what's perfect for you.

It'll handle high ISO's better than any p&s, plus you get awesome lens-shift IS with the 18-55 lens.

All the best!

Canon 350D + 50mm f/1.8. Any zoom lens is sad for taking pictures in the darkness. Nothing beats a fast prime.

He said he wants a compact. I'd suggest staying away from Canon compacts, cause although the A710IS is damn good, it sucks at low light - unless you're willing to go completely manual.

I haven't tried the Fuji FinePix F40 but have read about its capabilities.

Yes Chaos, agreed. But the OP hardly seems to be a stickler for quality. :D The Fuji F3x/4x all deliver near dSLR quality at ISO800 which is good 'nuff for most people. :)

I'd personally love a f1.8 lens to use for night-photography/portraits. But first I need to buy a body to go with that lens. :D :D

@avi_avadhut: Is the purchase done already? :P
