i want to buy a digital camera...budget of around 18k..can extend a lil bit...i saw sony dsc-t300(http://www.sony.co.in/product/dsc-t300?site=hp_en_IN_i)..it was pretty impressive...its MRP is 19.99K...wats your say about this digicam..???are there some models like this in nikon(my father is preferring this)..???or sony is gud enough..?and is it better to buy from ghaffar market(since i live in Delhi) or through KMD..from where can i get better cost..??

^^what are you looking for in the camera?
do u want good manual features as well or only a point and shoot cam?
and what about portability

for prices, buying from the grey market or getting it from the us via kmd is definitely better than buying in india from retailers :)

i want a sleek camera having good picture quality and as many features as possible..(which fits in the budget).. :bleh: ;)

and you are saying to buy from KMD..wont the taxes and shipping will make the cost too high..???
i cant ask KMD myself the cost because i cant post in the Dealer's Paradise section..

If you planning to go to the gaffar market also give a look at the camera market in Chandni chowk. if you want i can also give you contact details of the person from whom i bought my DSLR.

Take a look at canon models also. Nikon is also but canon has a better range in the compact models.

Go to DPreview.com and check out the reviews and photo samples before making a purchase. Take a look at the entry level DSLRs also (this is only in case you change your mind).

the products which are available on amazon or newegg ...are they new or some of them are used also..???

you get both. if you want to buy thru KMD, go thru Amazon.com and forward him the link to the product and he will give you a quote for it.

Amazon prices are better than newegg IMO

oh..so how to know that the product is a used one or brand new..??

^^the are new...dont see open box products though, they are stuff that have been returned

an entry level dslr is not exactly portable.....
the type of cam that he wants is more show than go :P (no offense)
you can also check out the canon ixus series and the panasonic lumix series....both are good as well

when you go to the amazon website and search for a particular product you will see a link like '45 used & new from $399.95' after every product. just follow this link, here you will see individual tabs for New, Used and refurbished. By default you will on the 'All' tab.

slr = single lens reflex or sumthing like that :P
its more professional use, comes with a myriad of features and generally have better results....though they are bulky which rules it out in your case

btw, dont see the megapixel count too much....it doesnt really matter
instead look for a better lens and good zoom....
one such model i know is the panasonic lumix tz5....its got 10x optical zoom and is quite pocketable...check it out :)

^^depends on which ones u see, all their cams are called lumix :)

yeah i saw the model which you suggested just now. with the panasonic i have only seen the FZ8 and likes so wasnt aware of their portable range.:(

i dont want panasoinc...my father wont be going for panasonic in any case...he will only be stuck on Olympus, Canon, Nikon and Sony..so plz give me models of only these companies..
