digicam

If u are into night photography and looking for point n shoot camera then the Fuji F10 is the best but the downside is its got 3x optical zoom and propriety battery. the good is its got upto iso 1600 and real image processor. Nice point and shoot cam

Let me add to the confusion.
1. Canon Powershot A95 - 5MP . Undoubtedly the best value, should be as low as ~ 200$
2. Check out the Minolta Dimage Z series. Z3 or so should fall within your 300$ budget. Fairly good cams as well, and a large optical zoom too

^^ DImage Z3 rocks! I've used one and its just fantastic. Only downer is that its just 4MP but the anti shake system+12X optical is awesome.

apollyon....
the camera is a nice choice.

but still i would like to compare it with two more model in almost the same price range.

as you are taking such high features i consider you to be a good photographer and using digital camera you will also put your hands on image modifying softwares like ps cs, psp and like others.

for image editing the ccd raw format is a must for an advanced photographer, which is missing in this konica minolta model.

i would like you to have a look at
Olympus SP 500 UZ retailing at around 379 us$
also take a look at Nikon Coolpix S4

for you convenience the http://www.imaging-resource.com/CAMDB/compare_results.php?sections%5B%5D=510&sections%5B%5D=908&sections%5B%5D=935&sections%5B%5D=928&submit=Compare

but i dunno a thing abt photography :) ...amatuer...will it make any difference??....
n re. the other two cams u recommended, i had seen them before, but iirc they do not have image stabilization, which i NEED!!
i tried out a friends olympus c740....i could not take a single pic without blurring it!

if only he were a babe.. :P lol..

@apolloyon :

taking photos with digital cameras is very tricky as they are a shade slower than film cameras.

regarding raw images : they are pure uncompressed images taken by camera which is onblard itself compressed to jpeg format which usually comes with a little loss of data. so raw format availability is a plus its just to compare i have pointed them together.

otherwise your choice no bad. but purchasing a gizmo you always end up seeing mango on the nenghbour`s tree riper and sweeter :P
