PC Peripherals Digital multimeter - need suggestions

I want to buy a digital multimeter. Not too pricey. Around Rs. 500-700.

Also, where can I get them in Chennai?

Why don't you get the cheap desi/Chinese multimeters (digital) for rs. 250? They don't have a warranty, but at that price you can buy another one if it fails (usually won't). Just test it before you hand the money over.

You might want to try wherever there are a bunch of speaker/cellphone/electronics stores.

Yea, there are plenty available for 250 bucks, mine is like 2 years old and was still working about 4 months back

Same here. Mine are about 3 years old for 250rs. Great for checking the mains line voltage, checking earth, current leaks, inverter battery charge.
