@psyphr, send a mail to valve, saying that you got this key from someone, who mentioned its some promotional/giveaway stuff.
maybe Valve would just remove dirt3 from your steam instead of banning your account.
 
yeah, adding them to your existing Steam account was lame. Send a mail to Valve asap explaining that you got it as a giveaway.

A friend of mine snagged one of those codes last night, but he thought they were a giveaway, not leaked. He was pretty stressed out about his Steam account possibly

getting banned, but after sending a careful worded message/apology to Valve they just removed the game from his library and all was well.

I got my Dirt3 key along with my gfx card, so even I am at risk?? how will they keep a tab on such key's? because, they wont come to know if the gfx card was sold or like rest of the others keys, got leaked.??
 
^^ No you are not. The leaked keys were given to AMD for the Dirt3 promo, I think Valve can make out which one is legit.
 
but, my gfx card is also from ati (AMD) and was for promo, also I am confused as how can they make if mine was from the same batch or other.. its just so confusing :(
 
i activated key got from another member just 2days ago only :/ . when does this ban start ?
 
The keys are listed in few sites, so I think its easier for valve to know whom to ban/remove key/game :p
I got the key two days ago too, but from AMD via mail.
Btw, the keys were leaked 24 hours ago.
 
Well i m the guinea pig here now , i ll let you all know how it goes down .

Deja Vu, I didn't get my serial code from AMD in the last giveaway when everyone else got but now this comes up.

EDIT: Guys who got codes with their AMD cards/AMD giveaway, hit CTRL+F and check to see if your code is in the list. If it is then ......:bye2:
 
lol nothing will happen guys, most at they'll remove it from your account but more than that nothing, you won't get banned!
 
Hmm I still wouldn't risk my Steam account :P

Anyways here what I think will happen-
1) Steam will blacklist every single one of the codes on that list so no one else can use them.
2) Steam will then block each and every copy of Dirt 3 running with one of those codes.
3) Steam will then ask those blocked people to furnish proof i.e. where they got their copy of Dirt from.
4) No proof = BAN.
 
Dont think they are going to ban now, as the keys were apparently taken from the amd4u site itself!

As of now, checking whether my key is there in the list. Its not there.....
