Hello!

i have a tp-link wdr3600 router on ddwrt, connected to a binatone modem from mtnl, in bridged mode. i wish to set-up static IPs for my various devices i use to connect to the net (a desktop via ethernet, laptop, mobiles, tab, media server, squeezebox, and any other guest devices). for the desktop and my own mobile, i have given them static IPs from their own UI, ie, for desktop, i put it on static IP from the machine itself, and similar for the mobile, while setting-up wifi on it. now i was trying to follow this guide:

http://www.howtogeek.com/69612/how-to-set-up-static-dhcp-on-your-dd-wrt-router/

however, when i go to the 'services' tab on the ddwrt router-page, as is instructed in the above guide, to add the MAC addresses, the connection just resets! and am unable to save/apply the settings. someone please suggest what i could be missing here, please.

thanks!

was able to do it myself after reading a little. can be a little tricky for new users of dd-wrt.

what i did was to get static leases from the dhcp itself, for the various devices that i have. how i did it?! just followed the guide linked to in the above OP. BUT, before that, deleted the various devices listed alongwith their MAC addresses under 'dhcp clients', on the bottom of the 'status' tab, by clicking on the 'recycle bin' icon of each. my wan-connection types is pppoe. i let it be. then clicked on the 'services' tab, and went ahead as written in the guide. things to note:

1. click on 'add', you would get one blank row, fill it, then click on 'apply settings', then 'save' (both at the bottom of the page), and then only click on 'add' to add more entries.

2. make sure to add only one entry at a time, apply settings and save, again click 'add', fill in another, apply settings and save, and likewise. if you do it any other way (like keeping on clicking on 'add' to first get desired no. of blank rows for the required no. of devices, or, clicking on 'add' to get another blank row after filling the first one, without applying settings and saving in between), the entries won't be saved, and the rows would go blank again. however, if you do err, and if you have your browser's auto-complete active, then fortunately you won't have to type everything all over again.

3. if you wish to remove a particular entry/row for it, then simply place the cursor in the first box of that row, and click on 'remove'.

that's it! by this way, your router's dhcp would assign static leases to your devices. i have provided such leases to 6 devices now, and would provide to 2-3 more next. it was/is really easy!

hope this helps any neophyte wandering on the net searching for a solution to the same/similar issue. :)

requesting mod to please close this thread now.
