Discount on Apple Laptops & Desktops

I was searching for a Macbook and bumped into this dealer.

He is providing 12% student discount on all models of Apple laptops ( Macbook pro and new Air ) & desktops ( iMac, Macpro ).

Just to give an example :

The 13" MBP base model which retails for Rs. 69900 is available for 61.5k and this is with Proper Vat paid bill and warranty.

Or the 11" MBA base model which retails for Rs. 57000 is available for Rs. 50000/- with Proper Vat paid bill and warranty.

We can ask for additional discount if people are interested.

Which dealer? One of my friend is interested but apple showroom is giving educational discount of only 5%

The guy at ebay prob'ly brings these Macbook Pros from HK/Thai (cheapest there) and sells em for a profit of 5k atleast.

I'm talking about all models here.. MBP, MBA anything..

@mods: I think u took it wrong way... I was talking about getting student discount through any of user's family member who is a student. ( Sorry for writing that in a dramatic way)....

This is offered by every apple retail store. You just need to be studying in a university and you are eligible for the 12% discount.

Also some dealers endorse same discount 12% to their customers and get a greater discount from Apple stores.

^ Oh if that's the case. then this thread can serve as an FYI so that u can push ur local/nearby dealer to give the appropriate discounts.

^ Its just been 2-3 days when I bought a VAIO F series but also looked forward to MBP.

It's best to buy MBP from a apple retail store. they do not have it with Mac OS Lion and are not even providing a free upgrade to it.

Apple store "Imagine" in Noida sector 18 is offering only 8% instead of 12% discount.

Indeed some stores even offer the same discount to similar items in the store. For example I got a 10% discount on my Wacom tablet just because they were selling Wacom products in that Applish store.
