No, it's both. Motherboard manufacturers can decide whether to add ECC or not. But the CPU also needs to support ECC for it to work. All DDR5 Tiny's I've sold support ECC.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but @guest_999 is right - you also need the mobo to support it. AFAIK, a workstation class chipset is needed.

EVO and Pro are retail; these are OEM drives. Usually shipped with branded systems from Dell/HP/Lenovo/ASUS etc. you can consider PM9A1 to be equivalent to 980Pro's
