Hey friends, I was just curios whether his move by Nokia to participate with MS to make smartphones is really a good idea, coz if you see MS charges really high fees for licensing & still being a new OS has bugs, whereas Nokia at this point of time required low cost smartphones to recapture the market. So, what you think about it, whether it will be a big fault or boon for Nokia & how is it gonna affect us end users?

Well personally I hate it.

But it does make sound financial reason for US market where Nokia is a laggard..

In US Nokia is a distant 5th, mainly because they (yankees)think symbian is not good enough for high end phones.. As the ASP of phones is quite high in US compared to countries like India , Nokia want to get foothold in that market IMHO.

Most of Nokia's success has always revolved around India,Russia,China and a few countries in Europe.

But now with the new "Look west " policy,I am afraid the midrangers will get trashed. They will churn out high end phones for the US, and keep their registers in developing in countries like ours with phones like 1100 series...

After the continous android onslaught for the past 2 years in these areas, I had expected Nokia to do something like this,But surely not take it as primary OS. They could have continued with symbian as the main OS with Maemo(or meego) and WP7 as side arms. But unfortunately they dont share the same views as mine or other countless fanboys.

I can still say N8 does make a better phone then any other, emphasis being on the "phone" part, But the condition of market is such that people expect to get a pc bundled with their smartphones, and for that function the fruits and desserts are much ahead I am afraid.

Yeah...

Nokia has to act fast. Their so called 8-12k budget phones are about to be thrashed.

not by cheaper Andriod Phones(which are all absolutely pathetic, the cheaper ones), but by the iphone Mini which has been confirmed by the Wall Street Journal who claim to have even seen it.

Pricing expected to be 200$ w/o any contract. That's 10k my friends, at the most 12k.

To me this whole Nokia adopting MS tech felt like a very carefully planned to destroy Nokia. 1st a CEO is selected from MS for, Nokia then sudden realization & public acceptance of danger, then adoption of MS software. Everything looks very well planned out. I still believe Nokia will ave better chances to survive if they adopt Android or Meego. I have used my N900 of my friend for considerable amount of time & I a quiet impressed by it. BUt lets wait & watch what will happen next.
