are you a member of Ram SENE ??

just kiddin ...

I am not :P , as I said, I support liberty and freedom of women and I despise any group that seizes freedom from people in the name of culture, tradition or religion. But I do believe in sensible use of freedom.

let us not again play the same game of blaming women and their way of wearing their clothes, in justification of
the heinous activities a man does to satisfy his fraked up Sexual urges !!

its a liberal world, an individual be it a man or a woman should have equal rites to do as he/she wishes until it does not break any law enforced
in a country.

I am not justifying the actions of such men in anyway, but rather pointing to one possible source of the problem.

No.you must expect this.I had my studies in tamilnadu(coimbatore).this state is very conservative in nature.there is no need for Rama Sene.the people themselves are like this.if travelling in city bus ,if unfortunately in the congestion if a youngmen's body touches any female.then you can expect what will happen.

and their newspapers, police are all moral policing.pakka orthodox people.I am generalizing. The Police did what Rama Sene did to Managlorean Girls in Pubs few years back in madras- catching all girls during a party in a big hotel discotheque few years back.and that was done by higher officers of TN police.the way they were talking with media shows their growing up in this orthodox land.

Simply said, madras is the 100% conservative city in India ,though I hope it changes.yeah ,their tamil movies will show you like all are 100% exhibitionists.that is another matter.

As regarding to their colleges - Recent trend is isolating girls from Boys in co-ed colleges by charging fines etc.the cause says- the ultra conservative parents prefer having their girl study in such a college where they are "protected" from boys.LOL!.

Truth Hurts.but Truth is truth.

South Indians basically are conservative in nature.girls wearing Jeans etc are considered as kind of illegal(morally) in this part especially tamilnadu.

This is true for andhra, karnataka also-except big cities there.

ROFL! If you don't know what your talking about, please keep it to yourself. Times are changing fast. I was brought up in a small town in Tamil Nadu, and even there the girls are allowed to walk in jeans and no one has a problem. And yes, their families don't object or call it "immoral" either.

There are always exceptions, but that doesn't mean you can generalize an entire state.

Again, those type of colleges are very few. Probably about 10-15 in the entire of Tamil Nadu, which is a fraction of the total number of colleges here.

I agree with Praka on this one though..

In general, Chennai is several degrees more conservative than say a Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or hell, even a Lucknow on this front...

On a related note, sometimes I get a feeling that the majority of women in Chennai dress badly on purpose..so as to not attract the attention of the opposite sex

Thx for putting it in perspective :)

While I believe in the freedom and liberty for women to wear what they want, there is at least partial truth in the above statement. There is nothing wrong in girls wearing Jeans, but there are many girls who do not understand the difference between fashion and obscenity. They dress in a revealing manner in order to stand out and attract attention and then regret it when they get more attention than they bargained for. The worse part is that sometimes even innocent girls have to bear the long term consequences of their actions as in this case probably.

Nice pseudo-libertarian views :thumb: I especially like your superior stance on the matter implying that you know the difference between fashion and obscenity and the 'guilty' women don't. You should do yourself a favour by joining the Ram Sene.

On a less sarcastic note, I hope you realise how arrogant and judgemental your views are. I don't know if you have a sister but were she to be walking on the road naked, would you have animalistic thoughts about her? I'm guessing the answer is no. Let me tell you why so. Society has taught us to restrain those animalistic thoughts and act human. And if you can do it for your sister, you can do it for any damn woman on the road, whether she's naked or half-clothed, or wearing "revealing clothing" that questions your moral highground.

The easiest thing they can do is always make sure they travel in groups so that they can protect one another. A number of years ago there were a number of rape cases in and around the Berkley area... maybe a little more severe than what you are talking about but the point is the police recommended that girls always traveled in groups of 2 or more.
(BTW..... they eventually caught the rapist)
How can every girl walk in groups all the time? There must be some instance when they have to go somewhere alone.

What they need is an army knife or a pepper spray gun!! If some perverted good for nothing come their way and does something stupid just jam the damn knife down or spray pepper in his eyes till the sick ba***** cries out. :)

I think you should read my posts again with your eyes open and your brain working and process it properly rather than in a half-assed manner. I have never made any judgmental statements here. I don't really care how women dress, but its foolish to blame only men when they get teased or ridiculed or something worse happens because of that.

As you yourself said, people supress their animalistic thoughts to act human. The definition of suppress itself means that those instincts are being forcibly controlled and kept down and that they can break open when appropriate stimulus is given and the stimulus itself may vary from person to person. Going by the way you speak, maybe be you cannot control your instincts without thinking every women is your sister, but thankfully I am immune to such instincts to a very high level without having to think every women is my sister. Still one cannot definitely say the same about all the men in the world. Its foolish to hope that every person in the world will be able to control his base instincts regardless of the stimulus. If that were indeed the case, there would have been no marriages or sexual relationships in this world.

Just to give you an analogy of want I am talking about, If I were to come to you and call you and idiot to to your face, maybe you will suppress your anger and keep quiet, if may be I call you something much worse, you will react. Another person may react as soon as he is called an idiot. So whose fault is it when you react. Is it only your own fault because you were not able to suppress your anger or is the person who provided the stimulus also to blame. So for god's sake spare me your crap for the time being and come back and tell me that when you yourself can at least suppress your emotions (leave alone instincts) regardless of the stimulus.

seriously man...

u wont ever understand, wat happns with a girl when she goes thru all this nonsense ...

how are we not suppose to blame a man who tries to misbehave with the opposite sex person to satisfy his never ending sexual urges....

for instance:

i find a women to be most appealing, when she is wearin a saree !

now should i start teasin her, harrasin her, rapin her.......... sayin its her fault that she is wearing an apparel which makes my sexual urges rise !

I'm with tracer on this one.

but its foolish to blame only men when they are teased or ridiculed or something worse happens because of that.

It isnt illegal to dress the way you described the girl in question. There are laws on obscenity. I'm curious is it illegal for women to be in swimsuits as thats as stripped down as you will get. So if you were in proximity of a pool or beach, how could you say the same ?

Is it only your own fault because you were not able to suppress your anger or is the person who provided the stimulus also to blame.

Question of degree, verbal abuse no matter what is still just that.

Physical OTOH lands you in deeper.

The problem isn't how girls dress. The problem isn't how men react.
The real problem is the overall air of sexual depravity and opression in this country.

It's 2009, we are a nuclear superpower and we still need ad campaigns encouraging us to be open about sex education .

Haha, Bollywood needs to lead the way here. More sex scenes are needed!

Its funny when you think about it, because our ancestors wrote the Kamasutra, world famous sex book.

Man this is really sick.....in this case the construction worker opting for such rawdy behaviour must be reported the college authorities cos these people are indirectly responsible for this....and if this option doesn't workout go to the nearest Police Station if this doesn't workout....Then GALS you GUYS HAVE TO IMPROVISE!!!!!!!!!
