I'm getting consistently bad write quality on some verbs i wrote. threw four of them away. one failed verify, three of them had pif errors jumping to around 5- 20 in starting, middle or end of disc. :@

thinking it might be bad disk i wrote at 6x and getting pif error at 4 from starting and also around ending of disc. is my writer writing bad discs or are the media bad? the verbs are from middle of a new box i got a few months back.

Also how to check which one is at fault?

there is one more factor which people generally don't consider. It is the writing software. Which software are you using?

What make and how old is it?

1. To check for bad media : Try writing on a different brand of disk.

2. Possible software corruption : Try different writing/burning software.

3. Update the firmware.

4. Use a lens cleaner and see if it makes a difference.

If all fails, your writer is the culprit and needs attention. :)

probably its the burning software. which one do u use.. don use nero bloatwares. lead out is creating problem at the last of disk burning which media u use..

seems like it was a few bad disks. the writer is sony dwg-120a (MYS4). i dont think any updated drivers or firmware is available for it now. more than 4 yrs old.

software used was imgburn (latest).

philips lens cleaner was used recently.

new disks were written satisfactorily.

problem occurs when i try writing at 12x & 16x. at 8x i get good writes. 12x and 16x end up with big pi & po failures in margin of 4-5k and hits 5-6 in the graph.
