Display Goes off abruptly..!

Good Morning,

from the past few days, my Laptop display goes off( not dims) within 1 minute. I checked the power options and advance power options as well. All set at 20 mins. What might be the issue?

Toshiba C 660- i3 2.53, 4 GB RAM, 320 HDD, x64. Windows 7 ultimate.

Please help.

What do you do to bring back the display..? Is reboot the only way, or can you bring it back on by pressing keys or by any other means. Give us more info to work on. In the meantime, try connecting your laptop to an external display through the VGA or HDMI port and see if the same issue persists.

You can also check if your battery is gone.. Does the issue persist irrespective of whether it is in battery power or AC power?
 
If by pressing any keys, the display comes back on, you have to check the software which has come with the laptop. It is overriding the windows power savings.

Also check using another output. Might be that the computer is automatically switching display outputs. Then the problem might be with the keyboard, as the key to switch outputs is getting shorted?

Is it a battery issue? Does this happen even on AC power?
 
A mouse move or keypad touch brings back the display .... yes, the same issue persists with / without AC.... No issues with battery, goes for 2-3 hrs.... We all have laps here, so can't try with an extrnal display...
 
If a mouse move or keypad touch brings back the display, it means the problem is probably not with the hardware. Had you installed any software recently? If you have system restore enabled, you can try restoring your system back to a date when there was no problem. Also, check the power options again and make sure you are not making a mistake somewhere. Scan your PC for any malware also.
