Specification-
AMD Phenom II X3 720BE
Asus M3N78-EM
Transcend 2 x 1GB DDR2 800mhz RAM CL4
Xtech 400W Power Supply

Problem-
Display is not coming despite several attempts

Desciption of Problem-
Recently I purchased ASUS M3N78-EM Motherboard and Install other hardware.
I start PC, CPU fan rotating continuously, NO Beep sound means RAM fitted properly, But Monitor light keep blinking
Troubleshooting I have tried and results-
After several unsuccessful attempts I assume problem might be with RAM or CPU, I reinstalled both things but nothing work
Then I Install new DDR2 RAM and Display appear but when I push restart button the Display gone
I put Transcend RAM one by one it works on 1 RAM, I remove it and install 2nd RAM from that kit but display wont coming
I conlcude problem might be with RAM installtion of Dual Channel and I might installing RAMs in mismatched slots so then I Put one in 2nd RAM(Yellow) slot and other one in Last RAM(Black) slot and things working fine for sometimes
On second day when I start same problem so I put transcend RAMs in my friend's system and Shocking to see those working fine without any Hassels
But when I put those RAMs again on my motherboard it gives display but upon restarting display not coming, I remove power cable and tried again but no Display.
Went to lamington to check the system but Engineer failed to recongise problem though suggested me to visit ASUS SC, I did it but Display coming there.
Luck by chance word is Perfect for this situation, Display appear sometimes and sometimes wont(no need to press reset)
This is happening even at minimum connection status that is only keyboard, power cord & vga cable connected.

Yesterday just curiously checked Qualified Vendor List of Memory for my Asus motherboard and Couldnt find my memory module, does it causing Problem?
Should I contact Transcend as well?

TE Techie gurus its kind request to Guide me, I wont mind if any Member would like to visit my home to check status or asked me to bring it at his home(only if it is convinient & quite near 2 my place) :)

NO Beep sound means RAM fitted properly

annababu I think for a successful boot there should be atleast 1 beep code.

Now coming down to the problem: broad assumption is that the motherboard is faulty .

Lets not jump to any conclusion and lets take it step by step.Normally cpu's very rarely die unless messed around with.

1.Check if the board is not shorting at the base and the spacers are well placed.
2.All the capacitors are fine and none loose or damaged.
3.Check all power connectors are well connected, rather replug them.
4.As you have already checked the ram in another system, can you do the same with your power supply.

With the demands of hardware today, a quality power supply is extremely vital.

Just my 2 cents.

RAM may not be the problem, but RAM slots can be.

Use only one RAM stick to confirm this, preferably the working DDR2 one. This should narrow your problem down.

First thnank you so much to the Repliers for visiting my thread and posting valuable comments:)
To atlantis-
Yes obvious the First beep is the one I mentioned about Continuous Beep in case of wrong installation or Faulty RAM
Tried all 4 steps as you said
Basically I hate to fit motherboard inside Cabinet I keep it out side but still I tried with this No results
I took 400W Iball SMPS, working when run first time then when tried to restart again same problem no display, So again i have switch off Spike Guard and has to start again
So what else I can try?
To always-shri
I did it in earlier in Troubleshooting, I took DDR2 RAM from my Friend and Install it in all Slots one by one it is working quite fine but its a temperory again after half an hour if you try the Monitor screen keep blinking
Your assumption that 'RAM slots might be faulty' may be correct
But then how should I explain this ASUS guys as you can read what Happened on visit to SC

annababu its surely the board, even if one of the ram slots is bad you cannot live that. No compromises you have to send the board to your vendor.

There are some very senior members here, who would be able to guide you in this regard. People here have had rma issues and got it sorted out.

Do a search for rma threads with regards to your city.

Wish you luck, hope you get it sorted out.

just a suggestion, if you could get hold of a quality psu you could be dead sure of the mb.

assuming that your pc running on Onboard graphics then it must be the board that is causing boot failure. It may be due to improper assembly of mobo(spacing etc).

NOTE - Upgrade your psu to any good psu from fsp saga, corsair, coolermaster, seasonic etc. to make sure that ur system is stable and getting pure power and u will also get high efficiency and low power bill. :ohyeah:

Ok since no one has suggested this I will, one clear your CMOS before you start start your computer using 1 RAM stick go into BIOS and then increase the Voltage by 0.1V and report here whether it works. Also try using MEMTEST to check whether the ram modules are fine.

To gamingstill,
No issues with assembling
All recommend PSUs by are bit higher Budget, Couldnt afford to spend Rs.1000+ on PSUs but at last if there is no option I have to go for it but SMPS can cause this Problem?
Many TE members sell their used SMPS of CM, Corsair is it recommend to buy used one?
To H2O,
I am running my System on 1RAM Stick only, Which voltage i need to increase Processor or Chipset and How much ?
The increase voltage options are- 50mv, 100mv, 150mv
Pls suggest one

i don't think its a psu problem , it looks like a board problem only, check connections on your motherboard, try booting without mouse ,keyboard or any other additional thing. Use only 1 working RAM in different slots, check if fan suddenly stops or not.

u can buy a USED fps saga 350W from TE(will be available around 1k only:))

if u board is in warranty period then get it replaced.:D

don't worry your PC will be OK soon:hap5:

Even my cpu shuts down sometimes after 20-30mts. I am having the same issue of no display and monitor lights keep blinking.

Only difference is when i restart say after 10 mts it says the sys shutdown because of overheating. But sometimes the sys keep running for 3-4 hrs no problems.

Gurus any suggestions why?

it must be due to your cpu fan
check urs cpu fan that it is spinning or not properly.
clean the dust etc on cpu fan ...:)

All the guys:

1. Re do the cabling.
2. Blow hard into all dock - sockets (RAM/CPU/VGA) reseat the device. (For CPU apply decent TIM).
3. Pull out the CMOS battery for a few minutes, with all power cords removed from wall junction/ups/inverter.
4. Reset the BIOS.
5. Update/patch OS/VGA/chipset drivers to latest.
6. Run MEMTEST on DIMM sticks singularly.
7. Try alternate PSUs.
8. Check current leak via a line-tester.
9. Update your signatures.
10. Pray.
11. Post back.

Do the above sequentially.

All steps except step 7 have been done Dear Friend
I couldn't find Alternate SMPS having good voltage
I am from Mumbai and already said That if someone can come to my Home or asked me to visit their Home with stuff I wont mind. I am damn sure that more than 50% + TE members in Mumbai have Quality SMPS like CM, Corsair etc. :) Just for checking purporse I am saying. Lets see if someone can Help me in that way otherwise cant test with Higher SMPS
Here are specs for Temperature and other if anybody can coclude anything with it-
CPU TEMP. - 48 C
MOTHERBOARD TEMP. -41 C
CPU FAN SPEED- 4353 RPM(Varying)
VCORE VOLTAGE- 1.312V(Varying)
3.3V VOLTAGE- 2.960V(in red- not always below 2.960V it is like normal white color varying)
5V VOLTAGE- 5.068V(Varying)
12V VOLTAGE- 12.094V(Varying)
SMPS Specifications-
+3.3V- 16A
+5V- 30A
+12V- 14A

What is Load Temperature is it different from CPU Load Temperature I Specified, Kindly tell me what more information I can Provide :)

Sorry for not being clear. I meant, post that same temperature array, while system (CPU) is being stressed. Prime95, Linx, Linpack.

m facing similar problem but is slightly different...........

after turning on the power switch ... GPU(ATI 5850) fan runs at full speed ... no display..
After 1 hr, I switch on my PC again ...this time GPU fan runs at full speed then calm down ...now I have display on my monitor :S....I can use my PC for hours

Strange thing is that it happens to me daily........can't understand which component is faulty...
One more strange thing - I removed rams & started my PC .. no beep ..
Memtest - no issues
HDD's - all ok
PSU - Corsair TX850.

@annababu ... sorry for hi jacking ur thread :P

thanks for reply gamingstill

I have a side panel off when it said "sys shutdown because of overheating" i can see the fan running.

Cleaned the dust of the fan

Sorry annababu for the hijacking. not by one but two guys

Done Memory Test with Memtest 86 and 2 RAMs on all 4 slots and Glad to see no errors are found
I am sure but just want Confirmation that There is no Problem with Memory Slots as well?
SMPS is the reason behind Problem?
