Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade the stock speakers in my grand i10 in a few days to one of these
1. DLS rm6.2 2way component speakers @12.2k
2. DLS C6A 2way component speakers @7.7k
3. Focal Integration ISS 165 component speakers @7.6k

these are all 6.5" component speakers, so my question is will these fit inside the door panel of grand i10? especially the first one, which seems quite huge as compared to normal 6.5" speakers.

As for the amplifier, i'm thinking either of these
1. Rockford Fosgate - Prime Series - R250-4 250 Watt 4-Channel Amplifier @5.5k
2. Kicker - EX150.2 - 2-Channel Amplifier 75W @6.6k

Budget is 16k-20k max for both speakers + amp , the lower the better. If you have other suggestions at this budget please feel free to let me know.. many thanks in advance

p.s i might add 6x9" one 3way speakers at the tray, or some coaxial speakers at the rear door panel in the future, i will never add a sub though. ALSO, i don't like too bright of a speaker, prefer a balanced or slightly warmer sound signature.

FYI.. Paytm has some deal on Car Audio with 35% cb. (AUD35) . You can save money on Rockford prime.

A question (to all)
-- Is it justified to use amp, if one does not plan to add a sub?
-- For such a setup, what is ideal
---- Components both in front and rear or
---- Components in front with 6x9 in rear

Ravin : Hope I'm not moving OT with that as I find myself in same boat but no answer to my queries.

Hi,
...

generally DLS has a laid-back and sweet sound signature and my experience is that Focal has slightly brighter signature. as you are going to use the car's stock head unit for music, you would have to do some research as to what would gel well with it [components and amp]. recently we got Helix Components and Hertz amp and the set up turned out to be very bright in an i10 Grand. finally whole set up was ported to a different car with an after-market head unit and it sounding neat.

about rear fills: currently i have DLS R6A components in my car [Zen] paired with JL Audio amp and i do not have rear fills. music is all right at the back.

I have 2 pairs of Focal Access 165 A1 6.5-Inch Component Speakers installed in my Fabia - both in front and rear doors. And their SQ is absolutely amazing (even when I didn't have an amp installed!). I don't have a sub installed and never felt the need for one. In fact, many of my friends and other people who heard my speakers for the first time asked me if I had a sub installed - go figure :D

In my opinion, coaxial speakers paired with a sub and amp, cannot match a decent component speaker kit paired with an amp. The sound from component speakers is very "clear" - none of the frequencies overpowers the others; whereas, one cannot say the same for coaxials.
And yes, component speakers do shine with an amp. I use a 4-channel amp - one dedicated channel for each of the component speakers.

FYI: While I was hunting for speakers for my car five years back, only speakers from a certain brand called "Rainbow" outdid my Focal component speakers! and they cost ~ 50k for two pairs.

guys i went ahead with rockford fosgate r250-4 (paytm) and focal access 165 a1sg (snapdeal), i will give feedback once installed. Might replace the stock head unit also, but i'm pretty excited for now. Also, there was a deal on ebay for hertz HE-2 amp for about 6k, but since i couldn't find reviews for it, went ahead with rockford. Hope i made the right choice :)

@ravin : You already ordered. One thing I wanted to share - R250 on rockford site is different than what is available on Paytm. You may want to check.
FYI .. I went for jbl 804ez (paytm).

Have Bull Audio 6.5 component + coax combo. Will slowly upgrade as needed.

it seems X4 is the newer version, however both seems identical in terms of performance from what i've read on amazondotcom, thanks for pointing it out though

guys where do we get speaker spacer ring online? unfortunately, these focal speakers do not fit in my car door panel, need an adapter :c
