DMCA warning on google

I don't understand the point of this action.

Is Google trying to shout out loud that it is ethical and doesn't want to participate in anything unlawful? Why should Google remove the entry in its database? It's merely doing its job i.e. cataloging all the websites that exist on the internet.

Try this: type the name of any application you want on Google. Take cuteftp for instance, and include 'warez' in the search. Or search for cuteftp by using the 'site' operator to search warez sites. You'll see enough copyright infringement, illegal distribution, piracy etc. Wave upon wave of it, in fact.

^^ They would have had received a request from Sharman and they'd have complied to avoid any legal complications I guess

And just so their users don't complan, they smartly included a link to the notice received which explicitly lists the resyuults Sharman would have wanted removed ;)
