Do i need a laptop cooler?

A bunch of them seem to be in the market, and pricing is kinda cheap.
In what sort of scenarios would they be really needed ?

And would I ( planning to go for an inspiron with an i3 and HD 5470) need one ?
 
If you can keep it well ventilated, nothing like it. If you plan to use it say on top of your bed/pillow or anything that blocks its vents underneath, it's a good idea to have one. :)

PS: Stop worrying about such petty things. :p
 
Depends on how hot your locality is. In places like Bangalore, there is not much use for laptop cooler unless you have a performance class GPU (GTX260M, HD58xx) that generates lot of heat. A cooler keeps the components cooler and thereby reduces the risk of failure. HD5470 runs relatively lot cooler. just keep an eye on temps once you get the laptop. anything in 40s should be good.
 
bhub is kinda hot. guess I'll go there, check the temps & then decide.
I'm on a buying spree now, since i predict i will be broke for the forseeable future. And I've not been on a buying spree ( at least now with my own money :p) for a looong time
Hence the confusion :ashamed:
