A few pdf files seemed to lag a bit while changing pages with Adobe Reader 8.0 on my old computer. Since then I have been using Adobe Reader 5.0 where the same pdf files work smoothly.

The Jan 2009 edition of Chip DVD came with pdf files of older magazines. And these pdf files don't work properly on version 5.0 (Some pages generate errors and blank pages or half pages can be seen).

So I downloaded and installed Foxit Reader 3.0.1301. All pdf files seem to work properly on this.

My only query here is, do I still need to have Adobe Reader 5.0 on my system for webpages that open up pdf files in browser or will Foxit take care of that directly?

Adobe Acrobat is still needed for secured documents.. Like few bank statement still do require acrobat as i have faced the issues. I use foxit for all the PDF's but its advisable to keep a copy acrobat but set foxit as default.

Foxit opens mine once I enter the password. No problems.

No you don't require Adobe Acrobat 5 to open webpages that open as PDF.:)
