Anyone know if Nokia/Samsung will honor warranty without a valid tax invoice available - that is, a cash memo from the dealer?

Also, is it necessary to mention the IMEI number of the phone on the invoice in order to avail warranty.

Lastly, is there any phone company which does honor warranty without invoice? I know Apple does on basis of serial number.

Thanks.

Nokia does honour warranty without invoice on the basis of the IMEI number and Import Date on their database. However, if your warranty claim is outside the warranty period as shown by their system, they will ask you for an invoice as the warranty period is for 1 year from date of import (on their system) or the date of your invoice whichever is later.

Samsung too follows the same system where they can identify warranty status from IMEI but they have this stupid policy of asking for a photocopy of the invoice each time. Atleast that is what i have seen as the Santacruz and Sion Service Centers. So, you will end up needing the invoice for Samsung.
