I'd bought 2 ps2 controllers (original) only two or two and a half months back.
Now both of them do not seem to work.

One of 'em works if it's not shaken badly.. I suspect a loose connection there.. The other seems to be totally dead! :S
So can't Playstation 2 controllers be repaired at all?
I enquired thro' telephone in a shop and that guy said the usual life span of a PS2 controllers is only 3 months odd.. :O :O
If this is the case what about other PS2 controllers (non-original) ??

This brings me to this question... What's the usual life span of a controller? Maybe someone using a PS2 can clarify.
An original PS2 controller costs Rs. 275/- odd. What about the other PS2 controllers? If they're in the 150-200 range I may just go for them..
Advice please!

If you didn't buy your Ps2 controller boxpacked, 95% chances are its a fake (even if they claim its real, its fake, believe me)

Just for once, get the original boxpacked thing from SONY WORLD. I brought one from U.S, and bought one from Delhi's SW, and it was all 2 years ago. Still runs good.

However when I bought a multitap, I bought cheap Rs.500-700 controllers from Palika when they claimed it to be real and it looks real alright, but play games like Gran Turismo 4 and you'll immediately notice a difference, and those controllers busted out within 2 months.

An original PS2 controller costs Rs. 275/- odd.

Well, that's answers it. An original Ps2 controller should cost you around Rs.800-900 Box Packed like this one :

Hmm original from Sony for only 275 :O

I got mine for 800 :S

I have one bought from Palika and one from Sony World bought both around 6 months back working perfectly fine...

Palika one for 350....though if u compare the buttons of both, the 350 one is definitely very loose

I really don't know about that one, but from what I've heard, Logitech Wireless Ps2 controller is the only good Ps2 wireless.

both my ps2 controllers working perfect since 2001 without any problems at all. also they have been used very roughly for most games. heh

Like others have said you got your hands on a fake.

If you plan on buying a new controller try to buy an official one from Sony or a properly licensed one from a third party. You could go wireless but I'd advice against it. The bastards sometime decide to faint in the heat of the battle when you are six seconds away from saving after having killed a maddeningly hard boss.

/Is not bitter.

Forget about repairing a fake controller though its not worth it.
