so why try at all?

with such kind of thinking..yeah..all i have to say god save INDIA..

dunno..whats gonna happen..and right now i am not in a mood ..to say anything..will think over it.. and den come back

I dont believe in saying "why try at all"

I will...but whatever I do, it wont be enough. Simply because the number of good people in our country is faaar outweighed by the idiots.

I belive things will change for the best . Wait patiently for the next generation to come in . the unducated will never remain uneducated . A time will come when under no pretenses can caste exist , under no pretense can illteracy exist .

Progress has always been gradual for a financially robbed country like India .

You think there has not been any worthwhile upgrade to our lives .. people are mistaken . When you even work for an International Company , only while you live in India , you are still helping India , and you dont even realise it .

" Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is. "
- Bhagwad Gita

Keep believing that India cannot be helped and it will never be helped .

As the old saying goes " Think Positive " :D

i say let there be no religion - this whole religion business was made to divert ppl of the wrongs some corrupt rulers made in their days.

no religion - no hatred amongst ppl!

but which party voted into power has the guts to do this - or do they want to?

when a majority of the indians start to collectively think about bringing our country to the top by making it better only then we can succeed. till then.... we will suffer in silence! (thats what we are doing right now ain't it?)

can you imagine when i was not bedridden & visited the grey market in Kolkata on my wheelchair the guard said "no four legged creatures allowed" now thats a clean bold to indian hospitality

i don't believe that ...if at all he did say that, he was a jerk and not a representative of a regular Indian

As for the ABCDs, here is a hilarious story...

Tuesday night, I was drinking with a local friend in a pub in a town called Hoboken (it's near New York city) when we bumped into a group of three Indian looking girls....two of them were quite hot so we struck up a conversation...

In retrospect, we should have just watched from a distance....

One of The girl was a gujrati babe whose parents had moved to the US when she was 15...unfortunatley, she was also amazingly loud & whiny and an absolute show off & completely totally phoney

within 5 mins, i was regretting having made a move and that was when the good Lord gave me a chance to get away smartly....

so she asks (in a terribly irritating nasal tone) "So Where are you from?" so I said "Chennai"

She asks back, "err...Chehnaee, where is that?" (from a girl who lived in India till she was 16 )

So i shoot back "Girl, two completely unrelated facts, but apart from the fact that you need a makeover, you also need to have paid more attention to your geography lessons :P"

Her other friends burst out laughing and me and my friend walked away...I swear that twat would have killed me at that spot if I'd have stayed on

I was a white person born and living in the Western world.

You sure of dat Nikhil?

Here is another story...I have a good friend at work who is a 6th or 7th generation Irish American...

he drives a old but very well maintained Cadillac...

I personally find that car a beauty so I asked him how he managed to get it

And our guy beams back and says,

- "dude, I got an awesome deal on it"

me: "wow- where?"

him: " I bought it from my grandpa for a steal, like 30% less than what I would have had to pay for it otherwise"

I: "that's an awesome deal dude"

It dont matter where u go bro..home is always home...thrs no better place than home.

I am English and living in the USA, I came here when I was 17, and I am now a number of years older..... this struck a chord in me because I feel this to be the case for me too. I have lived here more than 20 years.... but home will always be home... it's the truth if you always loved home to begin with.

This very much tells us the picture . Abandon your parents to live on your own . see them only when they are old ( as in visits ) Vs an Indian ( who even cribbing or hating the facts ) will take care of his parents .

In the end , this does tell a lot about how we are . Values are pivotal . Dont expect your children to do this for you when you move to USA , Sweden etc . Not that i criticise the values there , but taking care of your own parents is something that is Dharma .

Compare that with the fact that living with your parents will make it hard for you to get a date in the western world . I belive other asian countries too share this tradition.

deep down inside all indians (including me) are racist!! its a fact!

all the yrs under british rule has made us that way!

if u think i'm wrong, then answer this quiz:

what will u do if a very very poor dark skinned person with torn clothes comes and stands next to u in the train?

u dont have to answer, but u can visualize the stares and remarks given out by your co-passengers regarding that guy. some may even question him regarding his having a train ticket.

visualize what would happen if that same guy had went and sat on the seat of a first class compartment.

believe me this is one of life's bitter truths.

I dont believe in racism. Just put a 5 year old indian kid into a bunch of 5 year old americans or otherway round. They will still talk about differences.
OR
Put a commerce guy in a bunch of engineers. The bunch of engineers will most probably give him a hard time talking about technical things and make him feel out of the world.

We grownups only take it seriously, otherwise its a natural thing. Racism is everywhere, we should learn to live with it. Its a part of human life, i believe. :ohyeah:

i say let there be no religion - this whole religion business was made to divert ppl of the wrongs some corrupt rulers made in their days.

Religion was never made. It just born out of nowhere.

AHHHHHH, india in todays 20-20 with pakistan is looking hopeless, so let me pass my time here...:bleh:

Once upon a time, when there was no Intel or AMD, people couldnt use computer and so couldnt send emails or chat to other peoples out of their society.

PS: i am not sure if nvidia was there becos we can still find games like rise of nations, civilization, age of empires etc. And so we cant maintain non-existence of GFX cards.

Also, at that time, there was no electricity, so people couldnt charge their mobiles and ultimately couldnt use them, so they were bound not to talk to other people from other societies.

AND at that time, there was no petrol, since SADDAM was still ALIVE and KICKIN cos Bush was still to born. So all the hayabusas, ferraris and BMWs (dont mind if i forget others :P ) were practically dead. So people couldnt go to remote areas and chat/flirt with people of other society.

Graham bell was yet to be born. So people were waiting anxiously for him to arrive and invent the telephone. Till then, no-one could talk on phones.
In general, people were bound to sit back in their small societies which later constituted as religions. :bshit:

Man, this thread surely has turned into something. for the most part, I agree with Nikhil. as for racism, everyone is a racist. some admit it, some don't. no country is perfect, atleast when it comes to India, you can atleast be proud that we don't have a mentally retarded monkey with a boner for war as our president.... yeah, our Politicians aren't doing anything worth noting, but I'm just thankful that we haven't gone to war with some country for the sake of it. you know, why even blame India, when you say India is shit, you're shouldn't call our country shit. India's amazing, so many cultures and variety and many great places to visit and explore. India doesn't suck. Indians do. every country is made good or bad by it's citizens and as citizens, I ask you, what have you done recently that would do any good to India? It's much too easy to sit and act like a hypocrite and blame others. this is not a knock on any TE member, just my general observation of the average Indian attitude. I know I haven't, Hey, good things and progress doesn't happen by magic, they happen by actually getting things done. maybe if we all got up from the chairs, went out and dropped the "I'll do it tomorrow" attitude, maybe we'll finally see some real progress... India isn't Independent, we're still prisoners of our poser "I wanna be a white guy" alter guy egos. Hey, before you point a finger at me, I ask you, especially all the underage people here, aren't you dying to get laid? I mean it's hip in US to have sex at 16. Isn't it painful one is traditionally forced to have sex after the marriage? man, doesn't that suck? or how about smoking some Pot and weed? that's cool too, every guy in ghetto does it. why shouldn't we? or how about robbing them banks and shops? there's nothing quite as good as easy money kids!

i disagree @ hunter. People were aware of religions . There are numerous references to other religions or people in our religious scriptures . Muslims , Turkish people all find reference .

Its is highly debated , but i belive that people were aware of things in the world . Indians were highly civilized people and had advanced navy capable of making long journeys . Thats why the Ramayana and Mahabharata have their versions as far as the islands of Java .

And There are similarities everywhere , Specific stories , Events , references to people or depictions are common , so its unfair to say that due to lack of contact , religion found its roots .

yo evox dude . 16 year olds get laid here . and 16 year old smoke pot too .
where there is a will , there is a way .

not to make fun of it or anything , its mostly the culture and repercussions faced when caught doing it that keep us in check .

Thats a positive for India , if you consider it that way . If you dont , imagine yourself having a daughter .

Sharekhan, u got me wrong, kinda.

I agree we created religions, but there are so many only because of lack of communication. Otherwise how many of us are today considering to create a new religion?? :)
