duh...thats not racism...thats conditioned prejudice....
Dark skin has nothing to do with it...
If I am on a train and a white punk with mohawk hair enters the compartment at night, i'd be cautious...
If a black guy wearing a hood comes next to me, i'll be cautious
If a black guy in a business suit comes next to me, why'd I worry?
Talking of which I live most of the time in Chennai ..and most people around me ((including me ) are dark skinned,...Can I judge them by the color of the skin..obviously not....
Can i judge them by appearances? maybe I shouldn't, but that's how my mind is conditioned....In Chennai, If I see a guy on a Yamaha RX 100 wearing a bandana, I'll slow down the car coz I know there's a 90% probability he'll be a rash driver....
does that judgement make me a racist?
I really wouldnt like to get involved in to a discussion about that .. simply because we are deviating from the subject , and secondly , disucssing about a USA on how its governed is useless .
No one stting here can do anything to change what going on over there . We might as well be bothered as to what can be done here .
Casteism is one thing , thats opressive to someone like me from the General category .
I am having the pleasure of going through B R Chopras Mahabharat once again after having aqquired a copy of it . all 94 episodes .
There are some pretty intresting things that came up as why casteism was practised . and what is that today .
its foolish if nothing else . i remember the kind of dejection and depression i went through during the times of applying for a college .
I sincerly hope things are better when my child , if any then , comes to that stage .

People talk about home, there is only one home...
well, i've lived in 4 countries b4 i came here. To me home is where i make it, like a bedouin, you move to diff places, get to know the ppl. And then move again. Ppl tell me i'm home, but home is something i don't think i will ever understand. Ppl ask me which was the best place i ever lived in and my answer to that is wherever you had friends and liked the place. That happened in many places so there never was a *best* place, more like many good places.
That was my biggest dissapoinment in fact, there was no promised land !
..so if there aint no perfect place and you were happy in most places you lived, then what really matters is not where you live but how much you try to fit in and try to be happy otherwise move someplace else
The ppl i envy the most are the ones that have never travelled anywhere and yet are blissfully happy where they are. Are these ppl wise or something, or maybe ignorance is truely bliss. I always made friends with these ppl as they were to me untainted specimens, of the country they came from. Then i'd hammer them with all the bad things about their country and how country 'y' was better, but they never got fazed. It did not matter, they always saw the good and said you might not get that in country 'y'. On avg most times they were right. I think if you want to really *KNOW* whats good about your country, then you need to live somewhere else and you will know the answer. But then these ppl i'm talking bout already knew that...
From all my travels, the most surprising fact is how similar ppl really are wherever you go, no matter what colour, nationality, religon etc.
20 yrs go, i'd say there was a serious case of i-got-to get-out-of-india blues.
Now i dont think thats the case at all, certainly not for a majority of ppl that are on this board. For what must be the first time ever, ppl are actually coming back, fancy that.
The internet makes where u live irrelevant, you can get almost everything ppl read, hear or watch the moment it first appears.

I saw the amount of people dying to get in to the army , the will to die for their motherland .
How many times have we actually seen one whole country cry out loud and stand united for that one single goal .
If you cant feel what i am talking about , as i said , it is indeed sad .

Are you guys aware of the tremendous amounts of genocide currently happening in this world due to racism. Racism starts at home and is a learned response, most often from our peers and family, but we have a choice. We as individual's (anywhere in the world) are all so worried about what other people think, and therefore, we become our own victims. In other words, by making what someone else says to us more important than what we perceive of ourselves , or letting their comments consume us, we have made ourself their victim and our own.
As humans we have the right to decide for ourselves what we choose to believe and also to how we choose to react to other people.
