"Do you have XYZ Credit Card?" Thread

Guys, recommend some credit cards that gives the most reward points for fuel and maybe online shopping (amazon/flipkart).

Fuel is a tricky thing. How much fuel do you fill monthly is key.

Secondly, most cards (being co-branded) will only reward you when you fill at same brand outlets.

Thirdly, card machines may need to be of a specific company again.

Finally, still things could go wrong!

Thank you very much for the detailed information.

How is this possible? Let's say that I buy a BP card and if I fill fuel in a BP fuel station, then I should be able to get the offer irrespective of the card machine used right?

Nopes.

IOCL has a tie up with Paytm for reward points. Pay by Paytm and you get some points. 2 petrol pumps in my work area have the paytm POS machine, but only one gives the points.

So here I spent say 2K, used Paytm on a Paytm POS at IOCL but no points!

Then there is the AMEX thing - the offer only works with specific machines at HPCL. Not all have it.

I would suggest to visit cardexpert for these. LFAL may have some pointers as well.

If your fuel expenses are like 5k+, then get Amex membership card.
Load phonepe/paytm wallet with Amex card with 6k (=1.5kx4) per month and pay with wallet.
This gives about 7% (for everything you pay with wallet).

OT/

Amex has been restricted for onboarding new customers from 1st May by RBI.
If anyone is interested in getting an amex CC get it by 30Apr.

interested persons can PM me for assistance,
I have a friend in amex who would help get the applications done quickly.

I have tried using AMEX MRCC card at fuel pumps, their acceptance is super low.

For fuel, have a look at CitiBank IndianOil card. They are accepted at most IOC fuel pumps and waive surcharges. However, this card offers value only for fuel purchases only.

Anyone with HDFC credit card?

Need to buy a dishwasher worth ₹22k.

got it from someone local.

AMEX membership rewards card is free if you cross a certain spending limit.

However, in my case, it is free irrespective of spending as I hold another AMEX card.
