Hi Folks,

As we know that Haswell processors series are coming from 1st September.

Guessing from the much hyped power saving architecture, there is not much performance gain only power efficiency goes up, so Desktop processor will be more or less, less affected as compared to Laptop/Tablet industry.

So buying Ivy Bridge Ci3 in current date makes sense ?

One more question, when will be Haswell Chips are available in India(especially Nehru Place)?

Mods are free to locate the thread to desired section, since I didn't find any good place for it.

Regards
Haris

Depends on what you are using currently. If it is working fine, then why take the plunge this late? Just wait it out for a few months and upgrade with pride. You'll also be getting better deals on the old processors.

1st September? Haswell motherboards / processors are available all over the internet. Since online SMC International is also selling them, and I guess they are in Nehru Place, Haswell has stormed Nehru Place as well. And knowing Intel, prices won't decrease much for some months. Dollar might become cheaper (or not), and more processors / chipsets / motherboards are coming , but Haswell time has already arrived, and nothing groundbreaking is certain to happen around 1st September.

For the rest of it, I agree, desktop enthusiasts have much less to get excited about Haswell. You can wait for Haswell i3, or even Haswell Pentium, to decide.

There is a significant price difference between core i3 and haswell i5. Depends on what you intend to use the setup for. If for additional price you are able to get much enhanced performance for your work then go for it, else take the price advantage. :)

SMC has no stocks of Haswell at the moment.

They had very limited stocks which are now over, as told to me via pm.

Yep 2 days back there was very limited stock i saw physically...as the people were buying like hot cakes....

I don't know why but haswell is not what it should be talking about performance ) and still most people prefer Intel for their brand name only and to answer to Op's question getting a AMD FX4300/6300 makes more sense than a core i3.

Only i5 and i7 Haswell are available in market(read thread title)

I am talking about Core i 3 Dual Core Haswell processor.
Its slated to launch @ 1st sept.

Don't wait for Haswell i3. Just go with Ivy Bridge. The performance difference on Haswell compared to IB is not worth waiting for.
Also, when Haswell will arrive the prices will be high, not to mention the weak Rupee against USD.
