Does getting a Nexus Player/ Amazon Fire TV/ Roku make sense in India?

Is anyone using any of these devices in India? What are your primary uses? How are you getting around regional restrictions?
 
I have a Chromecast and although it is not fully used much, I bought it for Youtube and Local Cast and it does both of these very well.
For regional restrictions, you may need to have a router level VPN setup.
 
I have exact q since long time. Apart from youtube and localcast there is nothing else you can use.
1. do you need VPN for youtube too?
2. what is your broadband speed for almost buffer free youtube

I don't use VPN at all.
My broadband speed is 1 Mbps but I guess my ISP has local cache or something, don't know but I can play without buffering (most of the time) 720p Youtube videos.
I have observed on laptop that when playing youtube videos, the download speed increases till 3-4 Mbps. But when using torrent and direct downloads, it always stays within the 1 Mbps as per plan.
