^ The only place i found keeping a petro card useful is that, say at the end of the month you are in a hurry to go somewhere.. and you are short of cash. Then it makes sense. Just fill the card up and keep it safe. use it when you really require it.

otherwise your cc would be better. but atleast you dont pay any interest with a petro card :P

any link to the 5% cash back thing?

BPCL Petro card says earn petro miles, no mention about 5% cash back,

http://www.petrobonus.com/applicationform_termsandconditions.asp

To get this card you have to spend Rs. 250.

Whenever you fill fuel for 150 rs, you get 15 petro miles, which is 1 point for Rs. 10 spent on the fuel.

For every 6000 petro mile points you can get a Rs.100 gift voucher (which should be used in in&out outlets or a bharath gas voucher)

so to get back your Rs. 250 paid to get this card you have to spend Rs. 1,50,000 on fuels.

For a car user who spends about Rs. 3,000 per month on fuels, it will take 50 months to recover the fee (Rs. 250 paid to get the card), for the two wheeler users it may take a life time. But the card's validity is only 3 years. I am not able to understand, How a consumer benefits by this scheme.

I have put the same question to the person trying to sell this card to me in the petrol bunk, he was not able to answer.

Am I missing anything in this schemes?

Even my HDFC CC doesn't levy any surcharge on Petrol. And also they keep having Cash back offers every now and then..

So if you have a CC with 0% surcharge, then it doesn't make any sense to go for a Petro Card..

Petro card works well for me......anyway even if i fill fuel through cash i ain't get anything apart from fuel....so the points work well for me...i also had won two tickets for a movie........

And the wprst part,is if my mum gives me 1500 every month for fuel..assuming i keep it with me..ill most probably blow it up.....atleast for me~!!

Petro card and the Hp card makes is just a kinda "loyalty thing"...Whenever a person signsup for a Petro card...companies are res assured that they just booked in a loyal customer who'll fill fuel from BPCL as long as he's using the card!!!
