Hi

A friend is seriously considering getting the Moto X, but he's worried about the large number of reports of overheating and battery drain?
Can anyone here with the phone comment on this? Is it reliable as a regular driver? He has moderate to high daily usage.

Cheers

Yes, it does. If you want good battery life and not much heating issues compared to MotoX or Nexus series, you gotta go with flagship's of the likes of Samsung, and HTC. HTC has done a tremendous job with HTC M8. Great battery life according to the reviews.

I thought only my S4 heats up, because of crappy Exynos, but now I'm using a hTC M7, and while it charges and connected to Wi-Fi, which is almost all time, it heats up like hell, seriously the back aluminium panel was almost untouchable! Jeez!

My friend went for the Moto X anyway. He was considering the G2 for a while, but decided against it.
Lets see how things pan out
Thanks, everyone

No heating issues for me. Experienced one night of weird battery drain but a reboot fixed it. Is it reliable as a regular driver? Hell yes... as long as you're okay with charging every night when you go to bed.

Another thing I find is that it charges faster from 0 to 100% than any phone I've used before.

Must be something wrong with your phone. I have the M7 and my WIFI is on throughout the day. It doesn't heat up when i keep it for charging.

Check the apps running in memory. Maybe one of them is running continuously causing the phone to overheat. The only time my phone heats up too much is while playing games like Asphalt 8 for over half an hour or so...
