Hi guys, my friend has run into a small problem. He wanted to put up a website for which he planned to do the hosting part himself; ie website is hosted on is own PC for which he has purchased his own static IP. The domain name part was done through Google Apps and the domain name registrar selected by Google was GoDaddy. We tried everything they mentioned in Google Apps(regarding the settings in GoDaddy) but still we are getting the "Coming Soon" page when we give the domain name of the website. Somehow its not getting redirected to his PC where the website is hosted. But when we try the static IP of his PC directly, it works.
What could be wrong? Please help.

Ohhh its GoDaddy, peace of cake, can you send me screenshot of complete dns control? Should be very easy.

thanks for your quick response.

I checked with my friend about providing the screen-shot, but he is not very keen in posting a screen-shot of the control panel on a forum as it is his new company's website.

In case I take a screen-shot and blur out all the details pointing to his website and his static IP, would you still be able to help?

Your friend should have taken the domain directly from godaddy instead of taking it via google apps.Next time keep this in mind.

Which software are you using for your home server?

Have you tried this

If you're hosting your website at home (you have a dedicated IP) or if you only know the IP address of the hosting server, you can still redirect the domain name to that IP address. Leave the name servers on default settings for the domain that you to redirect and select [Total DNS].Edit the IP address for the @ variable with the IP address of the server where your website is hosted.

This is how you redirect domain names with GoDaddy. Whether you just bought a new hosting package or you switched web hosts, you need to go and change your DNS settings for the domain name.

How long ago did he change the settings?
It takes some time for the change to propagate through the DNS servers.

Ask your friend to do the changes as mentioned in the Google Apps help centre and wait for around 24-36 hours.

If he still cannot access his website by typing the url, then only ask for help.

^^ I have a doubt regarding the Total DNS thing.

Actually the website runs on JBOSS. So suppose my external ip is 10.150.120.5 and JBOSS uses port 8080 and the webpages are in folder "Home", how should I enter these information in GoDaddy control panel.

Actually if I give http://10.150.120.5:8080/Home in a browser from anywhere, the webpage launches. But if I give www.mydomain.com it shows "Coming soon" in google Apps.

Well, he is having a JBOSS server running. So when we try to access the site directly, we give http://staticip:port/home_folder
This launches the website without any problems.
