Domain Registration Query

Hello guys,

We have a domain that is currently operational for more than 5 years, lets say the domain is abc.com, we received an email today on that account -

Dear Sir/Madam,

About the "abc". We are the department of Asian Domain Registration Service in China. Here I have something to confirm with you. We formally received an application on March 12th, 2015 that a company claimed "TangHan Lown Co" were applying to register "abc" as their Net Brand and some "abc" Asian countries top-level domain names through our firm.

Now we are handling this registration, and after our initial checking, we found the name were similar to your company's, so we need to check with you whether your company has authorized that company to register these names. If you authorized this, we would finish the registration at once. If you did not authorize, please let us know within 7 workdays, so that we could handle this issue better. After the deadline we will unconditionally finish the registration for "TangHan Lown Co" Looking forward to your prompt reply.

(It's very urgent, so please transfer this email to your CEO or appropriate person. Thanks a lot.)

Best Regards,

We obviously havent given authorization to any other company to do anything, do we respond to them, I am not sure what is happening here, cause to my knowledge once a domain is registered no one can use/buy it, right?

Please help guys.

Forget the email. It the usual scam.

Send them similar email from xyz fake a/c but this time put their cos. name instead.
Use free mass mailers if you want.
