Currently I run an account with this hosting company and soon my domain will be expiring, now I want to renew my domain from goDaddy or some other place. Can you tell me exactly what the process will be.

Also, how would I link the new domain with my previous hosting account, I know I have to change the nameservers but I am not very sure.

Thanks,
Abeer.

The eHow article above, mostly describes the domain transfer process. It however neglects to mention that you will need the EPP key also known as domain transfer secret or domain secret key to complete the domain transfer. You will have to provide this to the domain registrar you are transferring your domain to. The EPP key/domain secret can be obtained from your current domain registrar.

Ensure the e-mail address for the administrator of your domain is correct or update it before you begin the transfer (contact e-mail should be in the control panel of your current registrar). Verify that a whois lookup shows the correct contact information.

The nameservers for your site control how people find your site. This information is contained in the control panel of your domain registrar.

The nameserver information from your current registrar is usually transferred to the new domain registrar when you do a transfer. If the nameservers were not transferred or are incorrect post the transfer, get the nameservers from your current hosting provider and update the nameserver settings via the control panel in the domain registrar.
