Storage Solutions Doubts about WD My book essential 1TB HDD warranty

Hi,

I bought a WD 1TB HDD from ebay. After registering it with WD yesterday i verified the warranty and it turned out to be of UK make with only 2 yr warranty.

Is this warranty applicable in India? Usually Indian items have 3 yr warranty, how can i get that?

I also purchased from ebay and before openning the package I checked the warranty and found out its out of region!

so send it back to the seller and planning for refund.

@sharmapu I have called up WD CC and they have asked me to drop them a mail and within 48hrs they will change the region code for my drives serial no to India and they seem to have no issues with it being out of region code.
 
WTF
I sent it back to seller at my cost :S since it was saturday and WD support was off till monday.

The seller is super.shopper.24x7.

But pls rest assured that there is no issue whatsoever as WD has confirmed to me on mail. Pls find the extract of the mail below.

I think @sharmapu acted in haste and should had contacted the WD CC for confirmation before returning the item.
 
Actually i had asked and the seller had told that it contains 3yrs India warranty. Though not entirely correct but ultimately i might end up getting the same. So you cannot rely 100% on the sellers response. When i talked to seller, he told me that its a original product and told me the distributors name as well as some sticker in the box which proves that.
 
If u have bill of your purchase in INDIA u can surely change the warranty region code stuff I guess

Else it will show the company in bad name
 
many ebay sellers are selling products with a lower price should be parallel or grey market products, to get profit they have to add ebay charges+fess+profit,so that many products sourced legally cant make them profits ! so many sellers sell these grey/parallel imported products to make more money !
 
I am not sure whether its a grey product or not, but WD CC did not ask for any bill proof etc. They were just fine with whatever i had and immd agreed upon changing the region code. Works fine for all i guess!
 
WD india partners only import WD india Sl.no products, but WD supports intl warranty for all external storage products,thats why they helped you.
Does your product has any importers sticker or else !
