Monitors doubts regarding external monitor

Hi All..!

i've bought Samsung 2233SW yesterday from pulse sytems for 8.6K (payment through cheque)...amazing monitor...but i have a couple of doubts..

(1) i've attached it to my Asus EEEPC 900 netbook, the monitor displays resolution of only 1600x900 and that is the last resolution available in the list.

how can the monitor use its native resolution (1920x1080)..?? is it because the netbook cannot support such high resolution and only when i attach it to the CPU it would set in it's native resolution??

^^ hmmm...so if i connect my VGA cable to the cpu....it will set the monitor to it's native resolution by itself or is there something i have to do for it??

^^ any one else like to comment on it??
