Download and upload streams different in Airtel BB?

Are the Download and upload streams different in Airtel BB? I have noticed my download speed drops when i up the upload speed.. but i heard somewhere in this forum that both are on different streams.
 
Yup and its called SDSL connection as against ADSL of bsnl. Keep upload spped at maximum of 75% of ur download speeds.

Are you sure about this? My modem says ADSL2+.
 
Well thats what i know. And u can set modes in modem manually. If ur upload speeds are near about same (or bit less) as ur download speeds, then most probably its SDSL. SDSL uses same bandwidth for both upload and download whereas ADSL uses dedicated bandwidth for upload and download separately.
 
Kinda ok i think. But more importantly u have to play around to balance up/down speeds to perfection, particularly when using torrent applications and thats y that 75% ratio.
 
Airtel in on ADSL . . . :) & not SDSL.

upload & download streams are seperate..but the ISP might have throttled your upload speed for single http/ftp connections..;)

Hence low upload speed on rapidshare/utube/etcetc . But in Torrents & other P2Ps' .. u can have 1:1 upload :download..no problem watsoever..:)

what happens usually is that when a person allots 100% of upload speed on the torrents/P2P , the download speed for the same torrent is not affected .. but browsing is affected because the browser cant submit the content(website urls/id /pass) etc , because the P2P will be taking the 1st priority.

So It is RECOMMENDED to allot ~75/85% of upload speed to p2p apps so tat it dont affect the download speed of other connections ( browsers).

Correct me if im wrong.
 
I am using Airtel 256kbps, Yesterday i tested my Download Speed...

in Torrent = Approx 26kbps
in Flashget = Approx 29kbps

Approx Downloads 100MB Per Hour, is it ok speed ??
