@ satyanjoy

1) Download the lvllord patch over here and install it. it'll remove the TCP connections limit on XP SP2 whch will eventually increase your torrent download speeds.

2) port forwarding is also imp for torrent downloads. Go here.. There u'll find a list of available routers which will further help you with the step by step guide.

3) Goto RUN>gpedit.msc>Local Computer Policy> Computer configuration>Administrative templates>Network>QoS packet scheduler. Now in the right side window enable limit reservable bandwidth and set the value to "0". Now restart your computer.

4) if you are using utorrent then go here and follow the steps.
Hope this helps you out.:) If you experience slow browsing slow browsing speeds then ensure that you have a gud antispyware and antivirus installed. I wud suggest Ad-Aware and Bit defender.

BTW whch connctn r u using ??.. and wats d quoted bandwidth ??

Thanks a million of detailed step by step guide..I will work on it tonight and let you know the result.
I am using YOU TELECOM's 96Kbps unlimited(Rs.540/month) connection.Do you have any better suggestions.Download speed I am getting for torrent is 9-10kbps.I am at ahemdabad

^^ with that connection, the "lvllord patch" wont be of much help since the cap is too low for the number of connections to make a difference....I hope you're not confused with the Kbps/KBps difference....a speed of 96 Kbps= 96/8 =12 KBps.....in that case u're quite close to your top speed and what you need to do is to get a faster connection.....You may look at the BSNL 500C plan if you want to get decent downloads within that budget....

He meant generally, there is no need to tweak the network settings for getting the max speed. By default you get max speeds on 99.999% of setups.
