Laptops dropped my laptop :(

...and my dvd drive wont show up anymore. it seems loose. it doesnt respond to the eject button every single time either. im living in canada now so HP would probably charge me hundreds of dollars so i'd like to avoid that if possible. any suggestions? the model is HP Pavilion DV5200tx.
 
Yeah, it is pretty much straight forward. Mostly the connection would have come out. Get hold of a Philips Screw Driver and try to open the laptop from the rear, one screw after another. There was this guy on DriverHeaven forum who posted pics of how to open different brands of laptop - one step at a time. Could come in handy if you wanna gather some courage and get familiar. Since your last option would always be getting it repaired from somewhere - give it a try to solve it yourself.
 
can u see a small hole on the dvdrom panel
if u can insert a needle or something in it and the tray will pop out !!!

^i know about that.. its not that. the tray does pop out if i press it in and then press the eject button.. it just doesnt read anything and doesn't show in the device manager either.
