hello guys i bought this mobile from a friend for 15k

it was shipped from vizag on 6th but i got it on 9th

surprise!!

i got only an empty box

then i called up and enquired the dtdc vizag

they said the weight at vizag is 1.73Kg

at jamshedpur 0.450kg

now what to do

insurance would have helped, which i recommend most of the time. Now u shall have to make a scene and shout at their office for compensation.

Best luck anyway.

didnt mention as a mobile why?
means u lost it.
as per DTDC rules its not allowed to send mobiles.
if it has to be done,it should be done only thru open consignment.
means u will show the mobile to the DTDC person and pack it in front of him, insure it and mention that its mobile worth so and so cost and then u have to send it.
I am from vizag and am well aware how they respond to such cases.:ashamed:
I am thinking of posting a big story about DTDC from past few days, but was lazy.
will do it after lunch.
keep waiting for that.

^Do post a link to the rules which explicitly says mobiles cannot be sent as the shipment! Because AFAIK, I've seen most dealers on ebay use dtdc for shipping mobiles as well as numerous other electronic goods.

The consigner should've declared the item before being sent and mentioned the approximate value of the same.

I think the same incident has happened before for a deal on TE wherein the consignee received a stone packed inside the box instead of a N73 ME IIRC.

Yes i think hes right .. sending phones is not allowed by DTDC hence u cant do anything .. For others like electronics n stuff you need to mention that on paper ..
Just push for the difference in weight bro .. thats the only salvage

DTDC - India

in theory anything with a lithium battery is a dangerous good.

electronics is a mixed dice.they have the discretionary powers to decide if to allow it or not

The person who shipped should have declared that it is a mobile. IF he hasn't done so, there is very little chance of recovering the mobile. Now all you'll get is a paltry compensation.

Lol, don't tell them it was a mobile, tell them it was something else may be gold chain and other costly stuff which you can imagine:P, and asked them return 50k .. :P,

Contact a family/friend lawyer for further clarification on how to take this up before performing any mistake.

i would say, goto police station and report mobile stolen. Do mention the IMEI no. (Get this from vizag, they surely have the records)

Show proof of purchase at the police station.

If required, Blame DTDC that they could have returned the item to the sender if it wasnt allowed.

In short: For now, gather all the information you can. From DTDC, (regarding weight, tracking, possible steal location) and from Vizag (IMEI no., Serial no., bill no., bill, payment-detail)

Yeah, do as suggested.

i dont think police goin to help
OFC they are going to trouble a bit,but ultimately they are the one who are going to help.
@OP
which area do you fall under.
i know one police in 5th town(kancharapalem) area.

well, even with going to police the chance of recovering the mobile is pretty less. but yes, pressuring telling the dtdc guy that you are going to the police might help in atleast getting a compensation.

legally as far as i know they have a declaration on there slip that they are responsible only for 100 bucks or so damage if the shipment is lost/damaged

Just sitting there and thinking like a pessimist is the worst thing you can afford to do right now.

Don't know about your state but here in Chandigarh, the police have a special Cellphone-Theft-department. Although as we all know police does give a doze of a headache (unless you have some approach or a friendly lawyer on your side) they are very effective in tracking down stolen mobile phones.

PS: IMO This is a case of theft (where dtdc may/may-not be blamed) and the police is the only department that can help you in recovering your item.

Its your wish: A couple of hundred bucks as a donation/compensation from dtdc OR the HTC Tytn II
