Since my sound card needs an active video signal for HDMI output, and my receiver can't pass through more than 1920x1080, I was forced to use a separate Dual Link DVI cable for 2560x1440 on the U2711 and a second "dummy" video output for the receiver for HDMI audio. Since GPU power was going to waste on that, and sometimes message boxes & stuff opened up on the second missing monitor, I was forced to get a second display. Got a U2311H so I can run the PS3 and Crysis 2 at 1920x1080 without scaling and lag.
Though both are some kind of IPS panel, the U2711 completely blows away the U2311H in every possible way. I never expected the difference in quality to be this huge when I got the U2311H.
Both the above photos were taken in the exact same ambient light. The U2711 is so blindingly bright you can see the effect it had on the camera's white balance.
