I have a 400W PSU - VIP.
On it runs:
A64 3200+ (Clawhammer)
GA K8NNXP mobo.
40 GB Samsung EIDE
120 GB SATA Seagate
9600 pro
CDRW

Today, I wanted to connect another HDD, and it just wouldn't boot. On removing the HDD it started booting, so I tried again and it wudn't boot. Then it stopped booting even wothout that HDD, so I disconnected everything excluding one HDD and t booted. Then I connected back everything excluding the extra HDD.
Clearly the load is too much on the PSU (some of u may remember that I haved faced this problem too many times already).
Can anyone recommend a good 500W PSU which does not break the bank?
Cos I will most prob be buying a DVDRW in a couple of months and I will need the extra power. But since mhy budget is limited....

make sure the new HDD is working fine - when a HDD died in my computer my system behaved like a classic paper weight as long as that HDD was connected. Same thing happened on two occasions when HDD's died.

Dont scare him Easy... Powersafe 500 watts is a good bet but if you are looking for upping your GFX & Mobo card anytime soon consider a Antec SP2.0 400/450 watts...

Am on a budget, and that HDD is an old 8 GBthingy, but I am sure it still works..

especially cos it wud still not start even after removing the HDD, and I had to strip it down first..
