Recently 20north.com started duty free shipping..

Duty Free Gifting on 20North

New Customs Regulation !

Effective December 2010 customs requires that the recipient of a Duty Free Gift (DFG) make a declaration that the DFG is a bonafide gift intended for their personal use and specifically authorize the product supplier to clear the DFG thru customs on their behalf. Prior to accepting a DFG order, 20North will henceforth request such declaration and authorization from the DFG recipient.

As per Government of India guidelines, bonafide gifts sent from abroad, up to the value of Rs.10,000 (Rs. 2000 for electronics) addressed to any person residing in India are 100% exempt from customs duty.

This means:

Any individual living in India can receive gifts. It is not required for the person sending the gift to be a relative of the person receiving the gift.

Gifts must be paid for in any foreign currency using an international payment gateway (such as Paypal or Amazon SimplePay). Bank transfers from Indian banks and Mobile Payments cannot be used for sending Duty-free gifts

Gifts must be sent by a person with a valid US address (required by US Transportation Security Administration for export from the US)

Continue to shop as usual. Look out for the Duty-free icon that appears on eligible items, simply add the item to your cart and select “Send as Duty free Gift".

Important Note:

To minimize chances of duty being applied on Duty Free Gifts, all DFG shipments are segregated and processed separately. To enable this additional processing, we charge a small processing fee. You now have complete clarity on the landed cost of your DFG gift and the peace of mind of knowing you will not be responsible for any incidental charges.

Well mate there are HDD's SSD's RAMs all if you order Duty free and use the 500 OFF then its lot cheaper!!

That's the reason why I created this thread!!
