Hello...!

I'm was tryin to learn how to deassemble a mobo, I unwired all the components and wired it back.....

Only one prob, Everything works fine except that the DVD drive is not shown on "my computer".
When I put a cd, the drive LED blinks and I can hear the drive spin....

But Cant find the drive on my computer...!

Can anyone walk me through this?

Thanks in advance....! :)

Try re-installing the driver from Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Disc Drives

Usually, if any hardware device is not properly installed/device drivers are missing, it would appear under Unknown Devices section with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle. Look for these.

punit, thanks for the reply....!

In disc drives I see only one device: ST3320613AS ATA DEVICE.

Isn't it the HDD?

the only device with a yellow exclamation is OTHER DEVICES>VIDEO CONTROLLER...

So what to do nxt?

have you connected the cables to the drives properly? might be you left out the data cable to the drive.

Double check the IDE or SATA which ever your drive is supporting, try to re connect the cable check the connector on the mother if it is loose, Hope this helps.

Probably just loose connection .. try replugging the IDE and power cables ..should do the trick.

If it still does not help, go to Device Manager and Right click the device list and say Scan for New Hardware. Has happened to me quite a few times with my old Sony DVD writer.

Did u change the jumper settings of the drive ?

If yes then that might be causing the problem

But first thing u should try is reconnecting the cables and fitting them properly.

oops...! My stupid mistake... The connection to the mobo was loose....! I connected it correctly, its working very fine....!

punit , 6pack, AMDInfected, ranjitpai, raksrules.... A big thanks to all of you for helping me out.....!!!
