The budget is 5k to 7k now i need all options like upscaling,USB,HDD attachable,optical in/out, options That’s What I’m Talking About. please add if I missed anything. Is this right time to buy a DVD player coz HD and blu ray players are released. will DVD players obsolete in few months?? i also heard lg is releasing combo player that can play HD and blu ray dvd's. im worried.

buddy.. hd dvd an bluray players would take atleast another 1-2 years to settle into the indian market.. so it seriously would not hurt to invest in a dvd player right now and buy an hd player later on when they become reasonable here..
anyways to answer ur queries i think the philips dvp 3166 has all the options u asked for (sans upscaling) and sells for 3k.. so its a pretty decent deal at tat price.. otherwise the philips dvp5965 has upscaling and hdmi out and would cost about 4k (though i went to buy tat today but dint find a single piece in 3 stores so bought the 3166 out of desperation)
also as u have a budget of 7k.. u could consider pioneer players aswell.. i saw a pioneer 1080p upconverting player @ 7k.. though i personally found it a lil to exorbitantly priced an hence opted for the philips .. and also as i was plannin to connect it to a crt upconversion made no sense..

hyeah:dude the player features sound neat.. preety good at the price though the deal is even id bought a chinese dvd player which said divx on the box an even printed on the player but it refused to play a majority of them.. god knows y.. so tats y i ultimately decided to buy a philips.. and hav seen a couple of movies on it an it plays it well .. an another good part is that the remote is much more plain in comparison wit chinese player (tat is has lessor buttons.. as the chinese ones hava load of useless ones) so my moms finds it easier to use.. these benefits suffice the extra cost for me..
anyways the passion player is pretty good bang for buck.. but decide ultimately wat u want.. decent quality @ nominal prices or local chinese stuff @ throw away prices.. ??
