I found a very simple way (10 times simpler than Elliot Back's) to rip movie dvds. I am wondering if I can post it. I don't want people yelling at me later for piracy issues. And if I am allowed to post it can you also tell me the section of the forum.

No don't, DVD ripping is not legal unless the publisher specifically says you're allowed to make copies, and then it's for personal use only.

If you publish condition be sure to mention you're not supposed to decrypt or otherwise break the region coding, for region protected DVDs.

I would suggest you steer clear of this.

Yep, but home made DVDs are neither encrypted nor region coded.

I reiterate what Sangram said.

Zillions of guides can be found on the net on that topic, since there is no standard on which is the best method to rip DVDs, I guess it should be left to the user to browse the internet and find the best guided suited to his needs.

post the link to the site here then;

IMO its fair to take a backup copy of a dvd for archival purposes even if its copy protected. so long as i dont share that copy with the rest of the world it should be legal and safe!
