My Samsung Dvd Writter Is Not Working ?
It Doesnt Read Dvd/cd's Nor S=does It Write

What Might Be The Problem ???

Any Suggestions ??
 
is it under warranty?

edit: try using a dvd cleaner - use it two three times on the dvd drive and then see if the drive reads dvd/cds. it could be dust settled on the disc.

edit2: does it spin up/down a dvd/cd media when put into it? or else my first suggestion would be waste!
 
the only function it does is the lid opens and closes :p

beyond which it doesnt do anything :(

so do i need to give it for service or buy a new one

i bought this drive 1 year ago and its out of warranty

Me too facing same problem, but with my Sony 16X writer. Just takes in the DVD and light blinks for a second and then nothing happens :(

It's gathering dust while I am using my Sony Sata 18X writer.

How much the repairing will cost?

I too do not have warranty left. I suppose the manufacturers time the Writers to work for atleast a year and then go kaput!!! :mad:
 
k since my writer is not working and not under warranty ,

when i asked the people 4m where i bought the pc 4m they told that they wud book on call sheet so it costs some 500 bugs and apart 4m which they would charge me if there is any problem so....

i decided to go for a new one,

which is the best pick (budget around 1.5k)

which company is best for buying dvd r/writer

it should be really gud in the sense it shud be capable of playing scratched dvds/cd's at times mostly wont venture for it vut still
 
try deleting the Upper and Lower filters from the registry and restart the pc .

Step 1: Start Registry Editor
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. Registry Editor starts.
Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry
1. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
2. Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.
3. Expand Control, and then expand Class.
4. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

delete both Upper filters and Lower filters .
restart .

Should fix teh issue . :)
 
^^ I think this fix is for DVD Writers not getting detected in device manager... His Writer must have been detected but unable to read/write the CD/DVD
 
My Benq 1650 DVD RW ran outta warranty on 23/9/07
within 1 month,its gone kaput................:mad:
Light Blinks when the system starts.
device manager,Drivers,connections all OK
However will not open on

  1. Right Click -eject
  2. Front eject Button
  3. Pin in hole technique

Any other suggestions?????????????
 
Guys those who are facing problems with DVD reading/writing, pl do one thing first.

Uninstall all virtual drive softwares like daemon tools, alcohol, virtual cd etc etc.

Reboot the pc.

Now check again.
