Hey guys..

I just got myself a BenQ 1650...
Paid Rs.2050 :). Which is cheaper than USA :P.

Anyways..

Its not being detected in Windows..

Its all fine, in the BIOS and everything..
I can even select it as a Boot device, and put a Windows disk in and Start installin Windows..
Tried another drive as well, and same problem.

Check this out :(.

Please help me :(.

Thanks...

Other than the 1650, I'm guessing you have another drive (maybe 2) connected. If yes, try disconnecting IDE/power for all optical drives and only try the 1650. Chances are it will get recognized but I can't explain why or how to fix it lol... I had this problem once, so I kept one drive hooked for a few weeks but later when I connected the older drive it worked!

Im gonna try to use the Same Cable for my HDD and DVD-RW now..

Lemme see how that pans out...

Well, I had tried what RiO said, earlier itself, and it worked.

I tried the same cable cable for both HDD and DVD-RW, but the HDD is detected, and not the Writer....

I need both to work together :|. :(

Err doesn't the 945 chipset have only one IDE channel? If there's another IDE slot its probably from a secondary chip which may have its own pecularities and may require drivers. If you have the burner alongwith ur hard drive, set hard drive jumper to master and dvd burner jumper to slave. This will show down the hard drive though.

Thanks Chaos... It worked...

I had set the DVD-RW to Slave, but not the HDD to Master.

Anyways.. Thanks a mil. :).
